Our oenologists' opinion

Fruity and well-rounded

Deep purplish purple colour with garnet reflections, velvety, very brilliant. Intense nose of fresh blackcurrant, blueberry and milk caramel, intensely fruity with a hint of acidity. Velvety attack, lining the mouth well, notes of fresh blackcurrant, blackcurrant coulis, hints of vanilla and fern. Beautiful freshness brought by the alcohol, frank, balanced, fine sapid, very concentrated. Very persistent finish with blackcurrant coulis and cayenne pepper, very faithful to the fruit.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Do you know ?

Particularly suitable as an aperitif, Gabriel Boudier blackcurrant liqueur also goes well with both savoury and sweet dishes and can be enjoyed in cocktails or with a good Bourgogne aligoté.

Domain and appellation

  • Maison Gabriel Boudier

Only Crème de Cassis de Dijon is required to be made in Dijon, maceration of blackcurrant berries in alcohol without preservatives or colourings, followed by the addition of a judicious dose of sugar. The dissolution is done cold directly in the alcoholic infusion of blackcurrant berries, including the famous "Noir de Bourgogne" variety, which is recognised as the most aromatic in the world.
