The Chartreuse Liqueurs find their origin in a mysterious manuscript handed over to the Chartreux of Paris in 1605 by Marshal D'Estrées. They are still made today by the Pères Chartreux on the Aiguenoire site in Isère, not far from the monastery.
130 plants are needed for the development of the Green Chartreuse, which contains only natural elements and ages for a long time in oak barrels.
The Chartreux are the only holders of the recipe and a know-how that since 400 years.
