Our oenologists' opinion

Fruity and well-rounded

Discover this greedy wine that allies perfectly a complex nose and, in mouth, a winey and frank side. Indeed, it releases floral and spices fragrances. In mouth, it is well-balanced and has a real temper. Its length features a winey taste but also its greediness and its flavors.

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Do you know ?

It is said that the town of Chiroubles gives the most aromatic of all the Beaujolais wines.
Situated in a natural amphitheater 400 meters above the plain, it is also the one whose altitude is the highest.

Domain and appellation

  • Maison Jacques Charlet

Nowadays, the maison Jacques Charlet is ran by the Barbet family, linked to the Charlet following several wedding. They are also the owners of historical properties located in Saint-Amour and in Juliénas.

    • Terroir: Thanks to the diversity of the soils and the exposures, each plot has a unique condition. The domain selects the wines that has the best “climates” and take care to preserve their temper.
    • Viticulture: Harvesting the grape at their optimum quality is the key-word of the Maison Jacques Charlet. This philosophy implies two principles: the quality of vineyard and the respect of the original characteristics of the terroir.
    • Wine-making: In function of the domains and the vintages, wines of the Maison Jacques Charlet rests in tanks, wood casks or oak barrels. Wines are put in cellars where they rest, they soften and they age the necessary time before being delicately bottled.
