Our oenologists' opinion

Fruity and crisp

Its pink color offers a pretty nose of blueberries, red stone fruit and mineral enough fresh notes. On the palate, this wine has a good balance, quite full-bodied, nervous with a nice character on cranberries, pomegranate and a hint of dill. mineral and tense finish.

Light pink

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

This exclusive brand is the result of the association in 1978 of Don Sebastian Carpi, brilliant builder of the region of Valencia and an inveterate amateur of fine wines, to Don Enrique Forner, founder of Marqués de Cáceres in Rioja in 1970.

Domain and appellation

  • Don Sebastian

Don Sebastian is a « man’s story », evolving between the love of wine and the will to work to its excellence.

    • Terroir: Soils are principally made of clay and limestone of Rioja Alta. Vines are more than 30 years old.

    • Viticulture: Harvests are done manually during the first two weeks of September.

    • Wine-making: Two very pale musts are assembled after the grapes has been scratched variety by variety. The alcoholic fermentation is done cold (15° to 18°C) using stainless steel tanks. The cold temperatures are used to prevent the malolactic fermentation. The wine is bottled during the month of December following the harvests.
