Our oenologists' opinion

Powerful bouquet

With its garnet color, this wine offers a fruity nose on roasted plum, black pepper and kirch. On the palate, it presents a supple and fruity attack on satiny tannins. Final with good persistence.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Do you know ?

There are over 690 cooperative wineries and unions in France. Together, the 84000 winegrowers produce 39% of A.O.C wines (French appellation wines), 71% of Vins de Pays (local wines) and export over a third of their production abroad. Acting as a collective force, those cooperatives allow winegrowers to focus on their vineyards without directly having to take care of the winemaking process and the commercialization of their wines.

Domain and appellation

  • Moulin de la Roque

Founded in 1950 at La Cadière d'Azur in an old wheat mill, the Moulin de La Roque is a cooperative winery with nearly 200 winemakers.

    • Terroir: The soil is made of red sand and is constituted of clay rocks.

    • Viticulture: Harvests are done manually.

    • Wine-making: Each grape variety is worked separately, after the destemming of each bunch. It macerates for about 30 days with temperatures between 20 and 25°C. The next step is the pressing. The wine ages 22 months in French oak barrels. Then each grape variety is assembled to obtain the vintage.
