WINES OF SPAIN

With the largest vineyard in the world, Spain is not yet the third wine exporter in the world. This is due to excessive dryness of the soil and spacing of vines that give a lower yield. The term "denominación de origen" (DO) is the AOC. Apart from a few large families or groups, the vineyard is divided between a large number of small wine growers.
