Our oenologists' opinion
Its bright golden color presents a nose of yellow fruits and spices. The palate is mellow with spicy and peppery notes.
Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.
Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.
Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.
Style ? Dry wines are acidic, lively and fresh while sweet wines are soft and feel round in the mouth.
Do you know ?
As mentioned by its name, late harvests, “vendanges tardives,” in french are wines that are made of grapes that are perfectly ripe and harvested several weeks after the traditional harvests. Those wines carry a natural acidity and freshness.
Domain and appellation
Véronique & Thomas Muré
Established through an ancestral savoir-faire shared by 12 generations, the Muré family knows how to keep up with new trends. The domain particularly stands out through the use of cutting edge biodynamic practices.
- Terroir: Spread across 25 hectares, the vineyard lays on clay-limestone with pebbles soils and grais subsoils.
- Viticulture: The Vendange Tardives vines’ average age is 47 years old. Spread across 12 hectares, the Clos St Landelin domain is fully operated through organic practices. The ploughing helps the vines to go deep down the soil. The plantation density is high with an average of 10000 feet per hectare. The harvests are thoroughly carried out through small crates to the vat room.
- Vinification: The methods used are non-interventionist. The white wines ferment slowly on the lees in foudre or stainless steel tanks.
