Powerful bouquet

Its light straw color offers a nice open nose of candied yellow fruit, frangipani and vanilla. On the palate, this wine is balanced, clean, fine, elegant, full-bodied, full and ample with a tense and coated finish, silky and mineral.

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

As mentioned by its name, late harvests, “vendanges tardives,” in french are wines that are made of grapes that are perfectly ripe and harvested several weeks after the traditional harvests. Those wines carry a natural acidity and freshness.

Domain and appellation

  • Domaines Schlumberger

    Established in 1810 by Nicolas Schlumberger, the Domaines Schlumberger stand out with the implementation of environmental-friendly practices. The vines are worked using the principles of organic viticulture since 2000 and were recently introduced to biodynamic methods.

     

    • Terroir: Extending over 140 hectares, the vines are situated at an altitude of 250-390 metres above sea level. 100% derived from the Spiegel Grand Cru, the Late Harvest Pinot Gris comes from a terroir or marl-sandstone soils.

     

    • Viticulture: This vineyard with breath-taking slopes has soil that is ploughed with the help of 4 horses. The harvest is done manually.

     

    • Vinification: Harvested at peak ripeness, the grapes are pressed delicately before a thermo-regulated fermentation from 1 to 3 months in casks. The wine is then stabilised, filtered and then bottled.
