Our oenologists' opinion
Its deep garnet color with brick highlights announces an open nose with a rich bouquet. The palate is pure and elegant with notes of dark fruits, licorice and mint. Balanced, the Château La Grâce Dieu Les Menuts is net, elegant, fleshy, bold, and nervous. The finish is long with tight and coated tannins.
Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.
Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.
Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.
Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.
Do you know ?
The enthusiasm that is tied to Saint-Emilion is historic. Cherished by Cesar and the British kings, Louis XIV placed it on a pedestal when calling it the “drink of the gods”.
Domain and appellation
Château La Grâce Dieu Les Menuts
Oscillating between tradition and modernity, the Château La Grâce Dieu Les Menuts thrives by preserving the typicity of its different terroirs. Viticulture and winemaking are considered equally important to highlight the Grand Cru soils’ diversity and microclimate.
- Terroir: The 13 hectares domain lays on clay-limestone soils with merlot (80%) and cabernet sauvignon (20%) used as the main grape varieties.
- Viticulture: The typical Bordeaux double or single Guyot training system is favored. From debudding to deleafing operations and green harvests, much care is given to the vines. The harvests are hand-picked.
- Vinification: The fermentation and maceration are led plot-by-plot. The wine ages for 50% in tanks and 50% in barrels.
