Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.
Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.
Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.
Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

The Côte-Rôtie covers 3 towns (Ampuis, Saint-Cyr-sur Rhône and Tupin Semons) and covers 180 hectares. The name marks the northern extreme of the culture of Syrah. From a deep red, the Côte Rôtie wines possess both great finesse and aromas of a fleshy and tannic mouth.
Domain and appellation
In 2006, the Bonserine Domaine was bought by the Guigal family, contributing to its development which remains independent from the Domaine Guigal.
- Terroir: The area has 9 hectares of vineyards in Côte-Rôtie and 1 hectare in Condrieu. The Saracen, an emblematic cuvée of the estate, is produced from the best vintages picked from micaschistes and gneiss soils.
- Viticulture: The vineyard consists mainly of old Syrah, called "Serine" giving small clusters, loose, the unique aromas. The harvest is manual.
- Vinification: The wine is aged in small casks for 24 months.
