Fruity and well-rounded

Its dark garnet color offers a fresh nose of red fruit, cherry and peony. On the palate, this wine is balanced, honest, fine, full, nervous and mineral with a finish on tight and coated tannins that are slipping.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

  • Château Durfort-Vivens

    Classified a Second Cru of the Margaux appellation since 1855, the chateau Durfort-Vivens gets its name from the Durfort de Duras, a powerful family of the Southwest who settled in Margaux in the 14th century. In 1824, the Viscount de Vivens added his name to Durfort. In 1937, the chateau was acquired by the Château Margaux company, which has the Lurton family as the main shareholder.

     

    • Terroir: Located in the communes of Margaux, Cantenac and Soussans, the 55-hectare vineyard lies on hillsides of very little, deep gravel.

     

    • Viticulture: Harvesting is done manually.

     

    • Vinification: Vinification is done by parcel. It takes place in cement and wood vats. The wine is then matured for 18 months in fine-grained oak barrels from central France.
