A native of Spain, the Solera system is a method of assembly and aging developed for over 500 years. The barrels are stacked on several levels, depending on their age and profile (older rums at the bottom and younger ones above) enabling "continuous connection" in order to fill the part of angels in barrels.
Domain and appellation
ZacapaFounded in 1876, the city of Zacapa is located in eastern Guatemala, more than 200 meters high. In 1976, to celebrate the centenary of the city, the main Guatemalan rum company decided to develop a unique range of high spirits: Ron Zacapa Centenario on.
- Distillery: This rum is produced in the distillery of Industrias Licoreras on the highlands of Guatemala, at 2300 meters above sea level ; this place is called "the house above the clouds.".
- Manufacturing: Developed exclusively on a honey cane base, the rum is aged under the Solera system. Zacapa 23 is a blend of rums from 6-23 years of age, kept in Bourbon casks, sherried and Pedro Ximenez.
