Do you know ?
Originally, the LBV (Late Bottled Vintage) was born from the unsold barrels of Vintage Port. Finding no taker, the wines remained much longer in the barrels. In 1958, the IVDP (Instituto dos Vinhos do Douro e Porto) formalised this port to become a category in itself.
Domain and appellation
Founded in 1880 by Adriano Ramos Pinto, Casa Ramos Pinto is part of the Roederer Group since 1990.
- Terroir: Located in the Douro region, Casa Ramos Pinto has 360 hectares of vineyards, resting on granite soils.
- Viticulture: The main grape varieties used in this port are: Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca.
- Vinification: This wine is selected from a single harvest. The grapes are trodden in traditional presses (Lagares), allowing for more efficient and less violent extraction. They are then aged 4 to 6 years before being bottled for commercialisation.
