The name "Green Spot" refers to the spot of green paint, done by the Mitchell family, to mark the barrels that are mature. Over the years, other colour brands have been given, including "Blue Spot", "Red Spot" and "Yellow Spot".

Domain and appellation

  • Green Spot

The Green Spot brand was created for the Mitchells, a family of negociants, who began their operations in Dublin in 1805. In 1887, they decided to embark in trading and Irish whiskey ageing by shipping their empty barrels from wines, sherry and port to the Bow Street (Jameson) distillery, which filled them before storing them in their cellars for several years.

    • Distillery: The Midleton Distillery is located in County Cork, Ireland.

    • Production: Developed from non-malted barley, Green Spot is a Single Pot Still whiskey derived from triple distillation. The whiskeys used in the composition of Green Spot are aged 7 to 10 years in bourbon and sherry barrels.
