Fruity and well-rounded
Its dark garnet color offers a nice nose of roasted black fruit with hints of smoke, marine and iodine. On the palate, this distinctive wine is balanced, honest, full and round with a finish on ripe and coated tannins that are slipping.
Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.
Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.
Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.
Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

There are over 690 cooperative wineries and unions in France. Together, the 84000 winegrowers produce 39% of A.O.C wines (French appellation wines), 71% of Vins de Pays (local wines) and export over a third of their production abroad. Acting as a collective force, those cooperatives allow winegrowers to focus on their vineyards without directly having to take care of the winemaking process and the commercialization of their wines.
Domain and appellation
Cave Des Vignerons De Saint Chinian
Created in 1937, involving 162 winegrowers, the winegrower cooperative of Vignerons de Saint-Chinian has become the top producer in the Saint-Chinian appellation.
- Terroir: The Domaine Sorteilho has a vineyard of nearly 30 hectares located on a terroir of schist, in coteaux where hundred year old Carignans and old Grenache and Syrah vines grow, as well as Mourvèdre and Cinsault vines.
- Viticulture: Harvesting is done manually.
- Vinification: Traditional vinification in vats for the syrah and grenache, and carbon maceration for the Carignan. Next, the wine is aged in vats.
